What will you be doing when the world is coming to an end?
Well, some might say that you should not be reading stuff on the web. Although, if you're trying to
find out where the best place to get drunk is, you could be worse off.
XmasCon00 has now been and gone. And it was darn fine. The piccies for XmasCon00 are here. There are some good ones, too. There are other sites with piccies on as well, including Beavis' one, but I can't find the URL right now so you'll have to wait. Below is the original call for attendees. Feel free to ignore everything after this point.
So, beers.
Beer is good. Taken in nicely substantial quantities is also good. Taken in nicely substantial quantities with
a load of people you've never met before off the internet is perhaps a little scarey, but equally good, if not
better. And that is what XmasCon is all about.
Traditionally, XmasCon happens the weekend after .h's and my
own birthdays. XmasCon00 is therefore happening on Saturday the 16th of December. XmasCon is also the only
Con that I'll go to, given that I have papal dispensation
for the rest of the year. Some say that GlobalCon is more fun, but give me XmasCon every time. XmasCon is also traditionally held in The Horse & Trumpet (aka the nag & fart or the whore & strumpet) public house on the Headrow, in Leeds. It's a very nice place, with half-decent beer and a couple of little partitioned off bits that we can kind of take over as our own. They'll also serve food if you're starved enough, but we generally all go for a curry later on.
This year's con attendance is supposedly comprising of:
So, that's XmasCon00, Sat 16th Dec, from 3pm at the Horse & Trumpet. You can mail me if
you need directions, or ask on ULY where people will be glad to help. Or read
this article by Drew, or
you could always use Big Al's Directions to GlobalCon 2, an outstanding
piece of research - which was fortuitously held at the same location!
Should you want to see what it was like last year, have a look at the XmasCon99 piccys site.
Oh, and this year I won't be wearing a Calvin & Hobbes tshirt,
either. |
